I've been wandering around more and seeing more landmarks over the last few days:

I really can't reconcile this with the weather we've been having:

Why would they need a whole shop for umbrellas when London weather is so lovely all the time?

Special note to RCH readers

I've heard that there have been issues with viewing photos - I suspect it's because RCH likes to block websites. You'll have to check this at home, or just trust me that the pictures aren't that thrilling - they're like poorly-composed postcard pictures or pictures of people you don't know wearing my glasses.

Hyde Park

Today I walked around Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens





The Diana, Princess of Wales memorial fountain:
Apparently the fact that it's a big ring of concrete with water flowing over it that you can walk through is to symbolise her "openness".






Fountain that doesn't look too bad here but trust me, the water looked frighteningly like wee. And I would know.

It's only rained one day since I got here, and it happened to be the day that Peltzo's Picnic In The Park was planned.

How Does It Feel To Be Loved?

Friday night I crossed the river (even worse than crossing the river in Melbourne, from what I can tell) to go to an indie night called How Does It Feel To be Loved?

My glasses were extremely popular.

New Hostel

On Friday we moved on to a hostel in Paddington.

A quick breakfast in Hyde Park

and a lot of neck/shoulder/back pain later, we arrived.

The view was a lot nicer and we had our own room and therefore didn't have to make smalltalk with other strange people.





The shower even worked. Amazing.

Touristy Shots

Some photos from the first few days in London, while we were staying in the middle of tourist-town (I mean ... Piccadilly). If you don't like having a shower, then I thoroughly recommend the Piccadilly Backpackers, otherwise maybe try someone that has their water supply sorted out, and has fewer school groups screaming up and down the corridors all night.

I can't believe I packed two jumpers and a jacket but no shorts:

It was 30 degrees for two days in a row. Nothing is airconditioned, and London smelled like rotting garbage. Nice.

Welcome to London - Panic! Style

Melissa and I arrived in London/Piccadilly about 8pm and as soon as we'd settled into the hostel we set off for Panic! at the Roxy. After consulting the A-Z only a few times we found it and were soon introduced to the members of the Panic Nation:
